Colin’s Joy Project
About Colin’s Joy Project:
Colin’s Joy Project was created by the McGrath family to give back to their community the same joy with which Colin lived each day. The mission of Colin’s Joy Project is to enhance play space within our community, as well as sponsoring children and family programming, particularly for families in need.
More about Colin and other ways to support:
Colin McGrath was taken into heaven on Wednesday, July 25th after a wonderful day in the park. His life was full of love, laughter, curiosity, and learning. Always playing, singing, dancing, and asking questions, Colin lived every minute of his brief time with us to the fullest. His laughing eyes, beautiful curls, hilarious voice, and sense of adventure will never be forgotten. His smile made everyone’s heart happy. Colin leaves behind his best friend and partner in crime, his 4 year-old sister Sloane. These two spent countless hours on the playground at various parks around South Boston. We pray his spirit lives on in each of us forever.
Since Colin’s death, the McGrath family started a donor-advised fund through the Boston Foundation, called Colin’s Joy Project, which is focused on giving back and creating joy for children and families in Boston. They will use this fund to make grants for rebuilding local playgrounds and funding family-focused programming, particularly for families in need.
